Direct answer: A UAE service-area business should create one Google Business Profile for the real location from which it operates, hide that address when customers are not served there, and add only the areas it can genuinely visit or deliver to. Google allows up to 20 service areas, but adding a city does not create a branch or guarantee visibility there.
Confirm that the business is eligible
Google’s eligibility guidance requires in-person customer contact during stated hours. A service-area business can qualify because staff travel or deliver to customers; online-only businesses, lead generators and remote mailboxes do not. The UAE is on Google’s supported countries list, but each business must still qualify. Age-restricted products or services require a storefront.
Choose the right profile type
Classify the operation before entering its location:
- Storefront: customers visit a staffed location with permanent signage during the stated hours. The address can be shown.
- Service-area business: staff visit or deliver to customers, and customers are not served at the base. The address should be hidden and service areas shown.
- Hybrid business: customers are served at a staffed, signed location and the business also visits or delivers to them. Both the address and service area can be shown.
Without permanent on-site signage, Google says a location is not eligible as a storefront and should use the service-area model.
Decide whether the address should be visible
Enter a real operating address that Google can find for verification. When customers are not served there, open Edit profile, choose Location, turn off Show business address to customers, and add the service area. Google’s address instructions explain that the public profile will show the service area instead.
Hiding an address does not permit an invented one. P.O. boxes and remote mailboxes are not accepted. A virtual office must be staffed by the service-area business during business hours. A co-working storefront also needs clear signage, customer reception and the business’s own staff.
Use one profile for one real operation
Google’s representation guidelines allow a service-area business one profile for its central office or location and designated service area. Do not create one profile per emirate, technician, telephone number or sales territory.
A second profile requires another real location with separate staff and its own service area. If those facts cannot be verified, refine the existing profile’s service areas instead of manufacturing a branch.
Set an accurate service area
Under Edit profile and Location, add the cities, postal codes or other areas the business serves. Google no longer lets businesses define a service area as a radius. Its current service-area documentation sets these practical limits:
- use no more than 20 service areas;
- be specific and accurate about where service is available;
- keep the overall boundary generally within about two hours’ driving time from the business base, although a larger area can be appropriate for some businesses.
Choose coverage from actual travel and delivery capacity, not ranking ambition. An approved service-area edit can take up to 48 hours to appear.
Enter the name, category and contact details
Use the name shown on real branding and business materials. Do not add city names, services, phone numbers or promotional words unless they are genuinely part of it.
Choose the most specific primary category. Google’s category guidance recommends a few relevant additional categories, not one per service. A category change can trigger reverification.
Use a phone number controlled by the individual business location; Google prefers a local number when possible. Link to a business-controlled page that states the real services, coverage and contact route without presenting service areas as offices.

Prepare for the verification method Google offers
Google selects the available verification methods from factors such as business type, public information, region and hours. They cannot be manually switched, and more than one may be required.
For video verification, the official verification guide says the business may need to show:
- the current location, nearby signs or other location context;
- branded equipment, tools, products or materials used to serve customers;
- proof of management, such as access to staff-only areas, keys or non-sensitive business documents.
Prepare truthful evidence. Verification confirms profile management; it does not override eligibility rules or promise rankings.
Keep ownership with the business
The business should retain primary ownership. Google’s access guidance lets owners invite managers, so each employee or agency user can use a separate account instead of sharing a password.
Limit access, remove former staff promptly and record who approves major edits. An agency should act as an authorised representative, not take ownership from the business.
Understand what a service area does not do
The service-area field tells customers where the business can operate. It is not a switch that makes a profile rank across every selected city. Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence in its local ranking guidance.
Do not publish near-identical pages for each selected city or call service areas branches. Use one useful canonical service page unless a real location or materially different process warrants another. See PAKWM’s SEO service scope for broader planning.
Run a launch check after verification
- Search for the exact business name on Google Search and Maps.
- Confirm that a service-area profile does not expose its private base address.
- Check the selected areas against actual delivery or travel capacity.
- Verify the real-world name, primary category, phone, hours and website URL.
- Open the website link on a phone and complete the enquiry path.
- Look for an older duplicate, former address or unauthorised profile.
- Confirm that the business owner and only necessary managers retain access.
Common service-area questions
Can a home-based service business have a profile?
Yes, if it makes eligible in-person customer contact. Hide the home address when customers are not served there.
Can a business list Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah?
Only when it genuinely serves them. Google’s general boundary guidance is about two hours’ driving time from the base, with exceptions for some models.
Can a business create one profile for each emirate?
Not for sales coverage alone. Each profile needs a real location with separate staff and its own service area.
